Abu as-Safar narrated:

‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was seen wearing a cloak that he used to wear often.

It was said:

‘0 Amir al-Mu’mineen, you wear this cloak a great deal.’

He said:

‘Yes, I was given this garment to wear by my brother and close friend ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him); he was sincere to Allah, and Allah rewarded him.’ Then he wept.”
