[The Three Principles] Third Principle – Knowing the Prophet – Hijrah

Posted on May 31, 2014

Hijrah is to migrate from a land of Shirk to a land of Islam.
Hijrah is obligatory upon the people of this Ummah and this obligation is continuous until the Hour is established.

Proof (of Hijrah) is the Saying of Allah,
“Verily! As for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say (to them), ‘In what (condition) were you?’
They reply, ‘We were weak and oppressed on earth.’
They (angels) say, ‘Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?’
Such men will find their abode in Hell – What an evil destination!
Except the weak ones among men, women and children who cannot devise a plan, nor are they able to direct their way.
For these there is hope that Allah will forgive them, and Allah is Ever Oft Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving.”
[Soorah an-Nisa (4): 97-99]

“O My slaves who believe! Certainly, spacious is My earth. Therefore worship Me (Alone).”
[Soorah al-Ankabut (29): 56]

Al-Baghawi (rahimahullah) said,
“this verse was revealed concerning those Muslims in Makkah who had not migrated, Allah addressed them with the title of Eeman (He called them, ‘O My slave who believe’).”

Proof of Hijrah from the Sunnah:

The Prophet said,
“Hijrah will not be discontinued until repentance is discontinued and repentance will not be discontinued until the sun rises from the east.”
